The deal will see Makiniemi make $775,000 at the NHL level and $200,000 in the AHL.

Having originally joined Flyers training camp on a PTO, Makiniemi spent last season splitting time between the San Jose Barracuda and the Wichita Thunder (ECHL).

In three appearances with the Thunder, Makiniemi posted a 1-2-0 record, a 3.39 GAA and a .907 SV%. With the Barracuda, he posted a 8-8-0 record to go along with a 3.14 GAA and a .900 SV% in 18 appearances.

With Makiniemi now signed, the Flyers will have solid depth in both the NHL and AHL. Although it is currently Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov’s crease in Philly, if one of them goes down with an injury, Makiniemi could be a solid backup option.
