Rangers netminder Jonathan Quick recorded the 392nd win of his career Saturday afternoon against the Arizona Coyotes, giving him the most among American-born goaltenders in NHL history.
When the team returned to Madison Square Garden for Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Quick was honored for his achievement.
During a pregame ceremony with his whole family, captain Jacob Trouba presented the Connecticut native with a platinum goalie stick as the MSG faithful gave him a rousing ovation.
The honor is certainly well deserving, as Quick has put together an outstanding 18-year NHL career.
The 38-year-old struggled mightily last season with the Kings and Golden Knights, but after landing with his hometown team this offseason, he’s experienced a career revival.
Quick’s slotted in tremendously behind starter Igor Shesterkin as he’s recorded 17 wins, a 2.55 goals against average, a .913 save percentage, and a pair of shutouts across 25 appearances.
