The Montreal Canadiens will have to try and take a 2-1 series lead over the Vegas Golden Knights without their head coach tonight.Â
TSN’s Darren Dreger and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman both reported that Dominique Ducharme will miss Game 3 due to a positive COVID-19 test.Â
The resulting positive test will mean that Ducharme will have to be sidelined for the next 10 days. The positive test news comes after news that he had already been sent home due to irregularities in COVID-19 testing.Â
Ducharme is the first head coach of a Canadian team who will have to miss a game due to COVID-19 during the season. There has been no official word as to who will step into an interim head coach role mid-series for Montreal.Â
The assistant coaches on the Montreal bench include long-time former NHLers Alex Burrows and Luke Richardson.
