Sharks head coach Ryan Warosfsky said the 2024 No. 1 pick is doing well and skated on his own today. He’s been dealing with a “nagging” lower-body injury, which was re-aggravated during the Sharks preseason game against Utah HC.

Warsofsky didn’t commit to Celebrini being available for next Thursday’s regular-season opener against the St. Louis Blues.

“He’s another guy that’s one of those day-to-day things that we continue to evaluate,” Warsofsky said. “He skated on his own today, so I think we’re trending in the right direction. But again, it’s still very early in the process, and we’ll see how he is tomorrow and evaluate.”

Celebrini won’t play against the Anaheim Ducks in the Sharks second-to-last preseason game tonight. The Ducks are projected to dress close to their NHL lineup.

On a positive note, Warsofsky didn’t rule out Celebrini as an option to play in tomorrow’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

“We’ll evaluate that in the morning,” Warsofsky said.
