Ethan Cardwell well had a solid forechecking game before he scored the game-winning goal. Luca Cagnoni and Collin Graf assisted on the Sharks’ first goal. Jack Thompson had some solid moments and showed off his excellent slap shot.
The finalized NHL roster is due Monday afternoon, and head coach Ryan Warsofsky’s decisions on who makes it won’t be easy.
After giving up the game’s first goal, San Jose came back with two goals of their own.
First, Jimmy Schuldt got a puck through a scramble in front to tie it at one.
Danil Gushchin continued his strong play and found Klim Kostin in the slot for the 2-1 lead.
Mario Ferraro and Jack Thompson chased Tomas Hertl behind the net, leaving Alexander Holtz wide open in front for an easy goal.
Pavel Dorofeyev gave the Knights the 3-2 with his second goal, third point of the night.
Mario Ferraro tied the game at three 35 seconds into the final frame.
Mark Stone gave the Knights the lead before Dorofeyev completed the hat trick. Former Sharks centerman Tomas Hertl earned three assists.
With the Sharks net empty, Gushchin fired a puck from the point to the net that Luke Kunin tipped in to make it 5-4.
Gushchin tipped in another Gushchin shot to tie the game at five, giving Gushchin four assists.
Cardwell scored the game-winning goal as the Sharks scored two goals with the empty net and one more after the game was tied to win in regulation.
