Six Different Soaring Eagles Score as Women’s Hockey Secures 6-0 Shutout of Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – McKenzie Schmidt ’25 potted her first game-winning goal of the season and Claire Meeder ’23 recorded three assists to help the Elmira College women’s ice hockey program notch a 6-0 victory on the road against Plymouth State University on Friday in NEHC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The contest’s first goal would come just over 12 minutes into the first period for the Purple & Gold as Schmidt buried a rebound into the back of the net to make it 1-0. Meeder and MK Boyle ’26 were credited with the assists on Schmidt’s sixth goal of the season.
  • Holley Riva ’23 opened the scoring in the second period for the Soaring Eagles with her fifth goal of the season at the 8:06 mark to make it 2-0. Meeder added her second helper of the night while Erika Goleniak ’25 added her team-leading 15th assist of the season.
  • Elmira added to its advantage later in the period as Boyle found the back of the net to make it 3-0. Boyle’s eighth goal of the season for the Purple & Gold would be set up by Schmidt at the 14:34 mark.
  • The Purple & Gold tallied three goals in the third period as Alayna Toole ’26 made it 4-0 with her eighth goal of the season at the 2:34 mark. The assists would be credited to Bri Conger ’27 and Sabrina Shvartsman ’25.
  • Goleniak netted her team-leading 12th goal of the season later in the period to give Elmira a 5-0 advantage as Meeder and Madi Morton ’24 would be credited with the assists. Emily Lenzen ’24 closed the scoring in the contest for EC at the 7:02 mark of the frame as her eighth goal of the season would be assisted by Emma Bradbury ’26 and Katie Manning ’25.
  • Leonie-Louise Kuehberger ’25 stopped 12 shots in goal for the Soaring Eagles en route to recording her seventh shutout of the season while improving to 11-5-0 between the pipes for Elmira. The Soaring Eagles also finished the contest 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and held a 44-12 advantage in shots.
