Soaring Eagles Fall to No.1 Ranked Statesmen on Friday Evening

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey team dropped a 7-0 decision at the hands of the NEHC standings leader and No. 1 nationally-ranked Statesmen from Hobart College on Friday evening. Elmira, who put 17 shots on net for the contest were unable to put one by Hobart netminder Damon Beaver, who collected 17 saves in net.

The Statesmen would score a pair of goals in the first period past Elmira goaltender Kyle Curtin ’26 off the sticks of Brenden Howell and Jared Patterson at the 12:58 and 15:05 marks, respectively. Curtin would face six shots on net in the period, while Elmira was able to put the puck on goal just twice. 

From there, shots on both sides would increase with Hobart leading the way 14-10 in the second. In the frame, Curtin would allow one goal while making 13 saves to increase his game total to 17. 

The third period belonged to the Statesmen, who would score four times while placing 15 on frame. Goals in the period would come from Tristin Fasig, Zach Tyson (2), and Matthew Iasenza.
