Spirit’s Codd signs AHL contract with San Diego

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Davis Codd to a one-year standard player contract (SPC) through the 2023-24 AHL season.

Codd, 20 (8/19/03), tallied 2-9=11 points and 13 penalty minutes (PIM) in 20 games with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2022-23. He matched his career high in assists (9) during last season’s campaign. Codd was a free agent invitee by the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL) at the 2023 Rookie Faceoff tournament in Las Vegas, where he posted an assist in three games to help the Ducks to a 2-1-0 record. In addition, Codd attended Anaheim’s 2023 NHL training camp.

The 5-10, 167-pound forward collected 11-21=32 points and 38 PIM in 89 career games with Saginaw from 2019-2023. The Brighton, Mich. native set OHL career highs in games played (53), goals, assists and points (5-9=14) in 2019-20.
