In a game as convincing as the St. Louis Blues’ 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets to begin a four-game road trip, it’s tough to pick one player that stood out.
But Jordan Kyrou was one of many standouts for the Blues (12-12-2) in this game.
Scored twice and had a game-high seven shots as the Blues improved to 3-0-1 under Jim Montgomery.
It was a game that was nip-and-tuck for the first period, but the Blues took it over with a convincing second period, and Kyrou got the ball rolling with a goal at 18:04 to break the ice, doing so by driving the net off a 2-on-1 with Brayden Schenn:
And with the Blues looking to lock the game down in the third period, Kyrou for all intents and purposes put the game out of reach, making it 3-0 at 6:38 when he spun and scored off a strong effort from Dylan Holloway with linemate Brayden Schenn providing the screen in front:
Kyrou played 17:14 in the game and had nine shot attempts in the game with a blocked shot but just seemed to be in on the right plays with the puck in the offensive zone.
Holloway (goal, assist), Robert Thomas also goal, assist, and Schenn (assist) all had terrific games, as did Scott Perunovich, who wasn’t even supposed to play but was thrust into action when Justin Faulk (upper-body injury) couldn’t go; Perunovich had two assists and was a plus-3 in the game. And Philip Broberg (assist, 23:54) looked really good out there playing with Colton Parayko. Joel Hofer had a shutout going in his hometown until Mark Scheifele ended it with 4:16 remaining but was sharp with 22 saves.
It was a complete game by the Blues on many fronts, but Kyrou gets the nod as POG.
