Steelheads sign defenceman Owen CartwrightThe Brampton Steelheads have signed their third pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, Owen Cartwright.
BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads announced today that third round pick from the 2024 OHL Draft Owen Cartwright, has committed to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the club.
After selecting forwards with the first two picks, the Steelheads went with a right-handed defenceman from Holland Landing, drafting Owen Cartwright 61st overall.
Cartwright was the first defenceman selected by the Steelheads at 61st overall. The Holland Landing native played with the York Simcoe Express last season registering 27 points (1G,26A) in 34 games. Cartwright also appeared in 10 playoff games recording 7 points (2G,5A). The right-shot blueliner played in 4 games during the OHL Cup run tallying an assist.
