The kids are making some noise: Leafs Morning Take

by

We’re back, baby.

In case you missed it, Season 2 of Leafs Morning Take officially kicked off on Monday morning in its familiar 11 AM time slot. And quite frankly, it felt like Jay Rosehill and I were in midseason form out there.

Before jumping into things, we started on a light note by breaking down that ridiculous Blue Jays celebration from Sunday. Would you ever see that in the NHL? That was cringe —at least for me. They were a tough watch all season; let’s hope that changes in the playoffs.

Turning the focus to the ice, it seems like there’s renewed optimism in town this year. I’m not sure if it’s Brad Treliving’s arrival or the players they’ve added but there’s a different vibe around this team. Furthermore, we talked a lot about how impressive some of the kids have been thus far. Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten have been strong, but unquestionably, Matthew Knies has stolen the spotlight yet again. The kid’s the real-deal, folks.

Personally, I’m curious to see how this Leafs roster comes together. Contingent on Calle Jarnkrok’s availability for opening night against Montreal, the final roster spot up front could ultimately come down to either Nick Robertson or Noah Gregor, the latter of which is currently in camp on a PTO. Right now, I’d say Gregor has the inside track but you never know.

Also, we talked about some of the injury concerns. The prognosis doesn’t sound good on Conor Timmins. Meantime, unfortunately, the Leafs are not disclosing much info on either John Klingberg or Jarnkrok.

Join us on Tuesday at 11 AM ET as we recap yet another preseason tilt against the Habs. Also, Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Pronger will drop by to talk some Leafs and also promote his new Canadian whisky.

If you haven’t done so already, please subscribe, like, and leave us a review wherever you’re checking us out. Talk Tuesday!
