The Leafs head into the break on a heater: Leafs Morning Take

by

Not only did the Leafs walk out of Winnipeg on Saturday night with two points but they entered the bye week/All-Star break on a bit of a heater.

Chalk that up to things you love to see.

Anthony Stewart filled in for Jay Rosehill on the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing All-Star Weekend in Toronto. It’s going to be a blockbuster. Speaking of which, Leafs Morning Take will be LIVE on location this Thursday and Friday – February 1st & 2nd – from the Seagram’s VO Whisky Studio at SponsorshipX. In general, The Nation Network has a full slate of content scheduled. It’s going to be a blast. On top of that, you just never know who’s going to join us for a visit on set.

Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on Toronto’s impressive 4-2 win in Winnipeg over the weekend. Don’t look now but the Leafs have won three in a row and four of five. It’s been such a rollercoaster season. We discussed a bevy of topics —including Ryan Reaves, Auston Matthews hitting 40, John Tavares finally scoring a goal, and the special teams.

Meantime, courtesy our new friends over at Seagram’s VO Select Canadian Whisky, we touched a little bit on some of the injury concerns. Calle Jarnkrok is considered week-to-week with a broken knuckle while Bobby McMann was placed on IR with an undisclosed injury.

Additionally, Douglas Mattresses set the table for our bye week/All-Star conversation. Who will benefit from the time off the most? Stew chimed in with Ilya Samsonov. Since returning from his sabbatical, the much-maligned netminder has tallied a 3-1-0 record to go along with a 1.48 goals against, 0.939 save-percentage, and one shutout. What a development.

Jay Rosehill will be back for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM ET as we continue to dissect Toronto at the break, plus we look ahead to what we have planned for our All-Star coverage.
