The only thing the Leafs need to overcome in Round 1 is themselves: Leafs Morning Take

by

T-minus one sleep until the start of the highly anticipated Leafs/Bruins series on Saturday night at TD Garden in Boston.

For the fourth time since 2013, the two Original Six franchises will go toe-to-toe in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The previous three meeting have all gone the distance.

Jay Rosehill was back in the mix for the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by welcoming our new sponsor bet365! After that, we talked about the excitement and angst in Leafs Nation. The 82-game dress rehearsal is over, and it’s go time!

Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, the opening segment focused on the numbers. There’s no way to sugar coat things: Boston’s had Toronto’s number over the years. Naturally, we talked about what the Leafs need to do in order to be successful in this series. Furthermore, Rosey gave his thoughts on Sheldon Keefe’s post game remarks about William Nylander from Wednesday night’s season finale in Tampa. Suffice it is to say, the head coach will be facing major pressure once again this spring to get this team over the hump.

After that, thanks to our friends over at Charm Diamond Centres, we dissected some storylines. Goaltending, special teams, and the star players were top of mind. At this point, it’s almost become a broken record. We all know what this team needs to do. It’s all about them executing. Plain and simple.

Then, brought to you by Douglas, Zack Phillips, the host of TheLeafsNation After Dark dropped by to share his thoughts ahead of the opener. It was a lot of the same conversation. We all agreed that the Leafs need to find a way to set the tone early. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Also, make a note that we’ll be getting together for a special pre-game show on game day at 7 PM ET —strictly on YouTube.

At any rate, Leafs Morning Take will return on Monday at 11 AM ET. We’ll recap Game 1, and also preview Game 2.
