Top Sabres Signing Could Become Home Run

The Buffalo Sabres have made multiple roster additions this offseason, both through trading and the free-agent market. The most notable of the forwards they signed is veteran winger Jason Zucker.

The Sabres spent a little extra to land Zucker, signing him to a one-year, $5 million contract. With the Sabres having cap space to work with and needing help on the wing, this move is understandable. Now, they will be hoping that the 2010 second-round pick will provide a big boost to their middle six.

While Zucker may not be the flashiest of players, he has the potential to become a complete steal for the Sabres.

In 69 games this past season split between the Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators, Zucker posted 14 goals, 32 points, and 98 hits. Overall, it was a solid year for the 32-year-old, but there is apparent reason to believe that his numbers could be higher next season in Buffalo.

Just back in 2022-23 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Zucker posted an impressive 27 goals, 48 points, and 197 hits in 78 games. Thus, he can provide more offense and overall grit when in the proper role, and he may get just that in Buffalo when looking at their current group.

Zucker is also a six-time 20-goal scorer, so he has shown many times throughout his career that he can be an impactful offensive producer.

When noting that Zucker has a real shot of playing top-six minutes and getting power-play time with the Sabres, he could have a very strong season in Buffalo. If he gets back to at least the 20-goal and 45-point marks, this will surely be a signing that the Sabres will be happy about.
