The Owen Sound Attack are excited to announce that a familiar face is returning to the Bears Den, as Trevor Castonguay has been hired as the teams new full-time Head Equipment Manager. Castonguay returns to the Attack after spending the past two seasons as Head Equipment Manager for the Niagara Ice Dogs, a position he left the Attack after five seasons with the team.
Castonguay’s hiring will now enable Andy Brown to focus more on the medical aspects and will see him hold a slightly different title as the Attack Head Athletic Therapist.
“We would like to welcome Trevor and his new family back to Owen Sound. We all know the job Trevor has done in the past and look forward to a long relationship moving forward”. said Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray. “Trevor truly is an attack type team player that is willing to put in a lot of hours and is willing to do what is needed to complete the tasks. Welcome back Trevor.”
“As a family we couldn’t be more excited to be coming back to Owen Sound and re-joining the Attack. Owen Sound holds a special place in our hearts. The city, the community, and our Attack family have always been very welcoming and supportive of us and we are very happy to be starting our family, raising our daughter, and calling Owen Sound home for many years to come” said Castonguay when asked about returning to the Owen Sound.
While Castonguay’s familiarity with the Attack locker room and operation will be an asset, he has gained valuable experience on the national and international stage in recent years. In 2017 he worked with Hockey Canada as an Assistant Equipment Manager with the under-17 training camp, won a Canada Games gold medal with Team Ontario in 2019 and most recently work with Hockey Canada at the 2022 Under-17 Showcase with Team Canada Red.
Prior to his time with the Attack Trevor worked as the Equipment Manager for the Glanbrook Rangers Junior C Hockey Club. From 2007-2014, Trevor was the Equipment Manager for the OJHL’s Hamilton Red Wings and in 2014 he was a member of Team Canada East’s selection camp for the World Junior A Challenge. He has also represented the OJHL at the Central Canada Cup. With the Attack, Trevor will assist with the daily equipment needs of the team both at home and on the road.
