NORTHFIELD, VT. – Mandy McCarrick ’26 scored with 15:59 left in the third period for No. 11 Elmira College as the Soaring Eagles forced overtime before falling 2-1 against No. 12 Norwich on Sunday afternoon in the championship of the East-West Hockey Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Norwich would take a 1-0 lead in the first period as Marja Linzbichler found the back of the net for the Cadets at the 14:01 mark. The shot was one of just two on goal in the period by the Cadets as Elmira held a 9-2 advantage.
- Neither side would produce a goal in the second period as Elmira successfully killed a penalty midway through the frame. The Soaring Eagles once again held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal as they were unable to beat Norwich goalkeeper Leocadia Clark.
- The equalizer for the Purple & Gold would come at the 15:59 mark of the third period as Mandy McCarrick ’26 would get the puck past Clark for her first goal of the season. Holley Riva ’23 and Emily Lenzen ’24 provided the assists on McCarrick’s tally.
- In overtime, the Cadets would net their second straight overtime goal on the weekend with less than a minute left to play to secure the 2-1 victory and capture the East-West Hockey Classic championship.
- Leonie-Louise Kuehberger ’25 finished the contest with 13 saves for the Soaring Eagles, while Clark registered 30 saves in the contest for Norwich.
