A product of Brandon, Man., Kalynuk spent this past season playing for the Thunderbirds where he scored five goals and added 13 assists for 18 points in 66 regular season games.
Drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Kalynuk never signed with the team and instead inked with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Prior to turning pro, Kalynuk spent three NCAA seasons at Wisconsin where he collected 78 points across 110 games.
Since turning pro, Kalynuk has spent the majority of his career in the AHL but has seen 26 NHL games, posting nine points in the process.
As Kalynuk heads overseas for the first time in his career, he will have the opportunity to play an increased role with the Pelicans. Kalynuk has been able to contribute offensively wherever he’s gone and if he can do the same in Liiga, he will be in a solid spot when he looks to return to North America next summer.
