The 3 p.m. ET Friday NHL trade deadline is nearly 24 hours away.
Many big names have already been moved, with Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko (New York Rangers), Timo Meier (New Jersey Devils), Ryan O’Reilly (Toronto Maple Leafs), Bo Horvat (New York Islanders), Shayne Gostisbehere (Carolina Hurricanes) and Jakob Chychrun (Ottawa Senators) changing teams.
But last season, there were 33 trades on deadline day, even with a flurry of moves on earlier days.
The bottom-three Anaheim Ducks were busy sellers last season but have been relatively quiet. So have the Philadelphia Flyers. The Detroit Red Wings showed they’re among the sellers by moving defenseman Filip Hronek and forward Tyler Bertuzzi.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Max Domi
The Blackhawks are in a major rebuild. They parted ways with four players in the offseason and Patrick Kane, among others, this week. Domi, on a one-year deal, has 18 goals and 49 points. He was dealt from Columbus to Carolina at last season’s deadline.
Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser
The four-time 20-goal scorer has two years left on his deal, but his cap hit is $6.65 million.
Arizona Coyotes forward Nick Bjugstad
He’s sitting out for trade-related reasons. The pending UFA can add depth at an affordable $900,000 cap hit. Teammate Nick Schmaltz, another potential trade target, was hit in the face by a shot Wednesday night and didn’t return.
Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk
Leading scorer Travis Konecny is out long-term and the Flyers are slumping and selling. Van Riemsdyk and Justin Braun are the team’s pending unrestricted free agents. Van Riemsdyk was back in the lineup Wednesday night.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes
The Flyers could choose to go big in their rebuild. Hayes is an All-Star this season and could be a No. 2 center on a contender. But his $7.1 million cap hit through 2025-26 could make him hard to move.
San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson
Considering how complex the Timo Meier trade was, this one might happen in the summer. But general manager Mike Grier said after the Meier trade, “If someone wants him bad enough, as they say, ‘There’s a will, there’s a way.’ ” Karlsson is among the front-runners for the Norris Trophy with a resurgent season. He has four years left on his contract at an $11.5 million cap hit, but would fetch a major return if he moves.
Anaheim Ducks defenseman John Klingberg
GM Pat Verbeek moved three pending UFAs at last season’s deadline, including two defensemen. Klingberg (minus 28) has struggled defensively along with the team, but he can help a team’s power play. Defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk and Dmitry Kulikov will also be a UFA this summer. Klingberg and Kulikov are sitting out.
Washington Capitals forward Conor Sheary
The Capitals have traded five pending UFAs and re-signed forward Nick Jensen recently. Sheary, a pending UFA, could help a team’s middle six.
Another Nashville Predators player
General manager David Poile has become a seller in his final season before he retires. He already has moved Mattias Ekholm, Tanner Jeannot, Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund. He might not be done as he prepares to hand off to successor Barry Trotz.
Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Jonathan Quick
The two-time Stanley Cup winner was dealt to Columbus by the Los Angeles Kings, and Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen promised to try to do right by Quick. If he can flip the goalie to a playoff contender, he will.
