The 2023 U14 OHL Cup presented by Dairy Farmers of Ontario continued Saturday in Oakville with eight games on the schedule.

The Don Mills Flyers (2-0-1), Toronto Jr. Canadiens (3-0-0), Toronto Titans (3-0-0) and Barrie Jr. Colts (2-0-1) enter Sunday as the final four, with Semi-Final action getting underway starting at 10:00am. The Championship Final is slated for 4:00pm.

Through two days, Toronto Jr. Canadiens forward Jax Pereira leads the tournament with seven points (5-2–7) over three games. Lincoln Cumming (3-3–6) of the Don Mills Flyers, Carter Lewandowski (5-1–6) of the Toronto Titans, Frank Popkie (4-2–6) of the North Bay Trappers and defenceman Benjamin Marling (4-2–6) of the Barrie Jr Colts trail close behind.

Here’s a closer look at Saturday’s results:

Quarterfinal 4 – Huron-Perth Lakers 2, Barrie Jr. Colts 3
Quinn Patton’s third period goal stood up as the game-winner as the Barrie Jr. Colts narrowly defeated the Huron-Perth Lakers to secure Sunday’s final Semi-Final spot. Barrie blueliner Benjamin Marling had two goals and an assist for the Colts as they remain the last OMHA team standing headed into Sunday. Malcolm Rose stood tall in goal for Barrie, collecting the win.

Quarterfinal 3 – North Bay Trappers 0, Toronto Titans 7
The North Bay Trappers were out of answers on Saturday evening as the GTHL Finalist Toronto Titans proved too much. Carter Lewandowski finished the game with a hat trick while Ryan Hanrahan scored twice and chipped in an assist, Max Delisle had a goal and two assists and Christian Toma had three helpers. Charlie Campbell was in goal for the shutout. The Trappers end their showcase, coming away as the top NOHA team in the tournament.

Quarterfinal 2 – Sun County Panthers 3, Toronto Jr. Canadiens 4 – OT
The Sun County Panthers and Toronto Jr. Canadiens took things to double-overtime before Jax Pereira continued his outstanding showcase with the game-winner. Noah Laus kept JRC’s season alive with his equalizer coming with just 1:48 remaining in the third period. Pereira tacked onto his tournament scoring lead, coming away from the win with seven points (5-2–7) in three games. Keaton Ardagh picked up a pair of assists, including one on Pereira’s deciding marker. Goaltenders Ethan Maniaci and Daniel Cinelli both put on a show with some big saves to give their teams a shot at victory. JRC takes on Don Mills in Semi-Final action on Sunday morning.

Quarterfinal 1 – Ottawa Myers Automotive 2, Don Mills Flyers 7
A Charlie Murata hat trick powered the Don Mills Flyers into Sunday’s Semi-Finals. The Flyers struck for three second period goals to put the game out of reach as Lincoln Cumming and Charlie Sullivan both had a goal and two assists on the night. Ewan Findlater picked up the win in goal as Don Mills advances to face the rival Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Sunday morning.

Game 16 – York-Simcoe Express 1, Huron-Perth Lakers 3
Matthew Henderson scored the game-winning goal with 3:3o to go in the second period as the Huron-Perth Lakers pushed through to the quarters. Clark DeBoer and York-Simcoe’s Nathan Cloutier swapped goals before Henderson scored the deciding marker. The Huron-Perth penalty kill came up big, killing off five YSE opportunities including a third period five-minute major.

Game 15 – Soo Jr. Greyhounds 2, North Bay Trappers 6
A rematch of the NOHA Championship Final saw the North Bay Trappers exact their revenge on the league champion Soo Jr. Greyhounds as Khov Long scored the first hat trick of the showcase to lead his team to victory. Frank Popkie continued his strong play with a goal and two assists while Owen Smith had a goal and a helper. The win set North Bay up for a Quarterfinal matchup against the Toronto Titans.

Game 14 – Ottawa Valley Titans 1, Sun County Panthers 2
First period goals from Alexander Bially and Brayden Lappalainen were enough for Sun County in a 2-1 win over the HEO champion Ottawa Valley Titans. Goaltender Daniel Cinelli took it from there, backstopping the Panthers into the Quarterfinals.

Game 13 – Halton Hurricanes 2, Ottawa Myers Automotive 4
Saturday morning marked a disappointing end to the showcase for the OMHA champion Halton Hurricanes, who dropped to 0-3 after a 4-2 loss to Ottawa Myers Automotive. Halton climbed out to a 2-0 lead only to see Ottawa tie things at two with just 15 seconds to go in the second period. Third period markers from Dean Sloan and Liam Kelly gave Ottawa the victory as they advanced to Quarterfinal play.
