According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, Barry Trotz has told the Winnipeg Jets that he does not intend to coach in the immediate future, but would not rule out a return to coaching as a whole. Trotz, who joined the Islanders after winning the 2018 Stanley Cup with Washington, led the team to three playoff runs, but struggled this season in a year plagued by COVID-19 and injuries. He was let go by the Islanders after the season concluded.
A two-time Jack Adams award winner, Trotz had a 152-10-34 record over three seasons with the Islanders, and has a 914-670-168 record in 1,812 career NHL games.
