HENNIKER, N.H. – The Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey team ended the NEHC weekend with a 3-3 overtime tie against the Pilgrims from New England College on Saturday evening.
After falling behind 3-1 at the midway point in the third period, the Soaring Eagles were able to net a pair of goals off the sticks of Bailey Krawczyk ’24 and Amedeo Mastrangeli ’24 (his first of the season) to tie the game before drawing in overtime. Chance Gorman ’24 tallied Elmira’s first goal of the game, coming at the 17:09 mark in the first to trim the EC deficit to 2-1.
For the game, the Soaring Eagles were sent to the penalty box just three times, while each team was able to execute on a power-play opportunity. The first goal of the contest for the Pilgrims came following a tripping call which sent Christian Abrams ’25 to the box before Krawczyk scored in the third period after NEC’s Alex LaPlante (who scored a pair of goals on the evening) was sent off due to cross-checking at the 12:46 mark in the third.
In overtime, the Soaring Eagles forced Pilgrim goaltender Spencer Kozlowski to make seven saves, compared to five for Jeffrey Zero ’23, who finished the game with 37 saves in total.
On Elmira’s goals, Jared Smith ’24 recorded a pair of assists, while Ryan Reifler ’24, Nicholas Domitrovic ’24, Janis Vizbelis ’24, and Mastrangeli each recorded one.
