TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (11-5-0, 10-0-0 NEHC), New England College (4-9-1, 1-6-1 NEHC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira would have plenty of scoring opportunities in the first period of the contest as the Soaring Eagles recorded 22 shots on goal. Claire Meeder ’23 notched seven shots in the frame, while Erika Goleniak ’25 recorded five shots for the Purple & Gold. The Soaring Eagles would be unable to find the back of the net as both teams would head into the intermission knotted 0-0.

The Soaring Eagles would finally break through just under two minutes into the second period as Emma Bradbury ’25 took a feed from Madi Morton ’24 to beat the NEC goalkeeper and make it 1-0. The tally by Bradbury capped a three-goal weekend for the first-year forward. McKenzie Schmidt ’25 would push the Elmira lead to 2-0 at the 4:36 mark of the frame as she tipped a shot from the left point by Jenny Heath ’22 past the netminder.

Morton would add her name to the goal column as she finished off a play that would be set up by Morgan Mordini ’22 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Purple & Gold at the 8:13 mark. Mary McCafferty ’22 would cap the scoring in the frame as a battle for a loose puck in front of the net would find her stick to make it 4-0 at the 13:22 mark. Kelly Millins ’23 registered the assist on the goal for the Soaring Eagles.

Alayna Breivogel ’25, who took over in net for Elmira starter Leonie-Louise Kuehberger ’25 late in the second period would stop all seven shots that she faced in the third period to help preserve the shutout for the Purple & Gold. Breivogel finished with a total of eight saves, while Kuehberger turned away all four shots that she faced to start the contest. Kuehberger earned the victory in net and improved to 10-4-0 on the season.
