Just one regular season game on the Premier Hockey Federation schedule before All-Star weekend festivities begin in Toronto.
Montreal Force 1, Connecticut Whale 4
Connecticut picked up a crucial three points in the standings to extend their fourth place lead over Montreal. Melissa Samoskevich opened the scoring for the Whale with her fifth goal of the season, a power play marker at the 8:00 minute mark of the middle frame. Lenka Serdar followed that up with her first career PHF goal, another power play tally at 17:16. The Force cut the lead in half with a goal by Alexandra Labelle midway through the third period, set up beautifully by Autumn MacDougall who picked up her first point with her new team. That’s as close as they would come as the Whale buried two empty-net goals inside the final minute to ice the game. Caitrin Lonergan and Katerina Mrazova both found the scoresheet. All-Star Abbie Ives earned the win in goal with 21 saves, opposite Marie-Soleil Deschenes who took the loss despite 29 stops. Connecticut now has 25 points overall and sit just one back of Minnesota for third place while holding a nine point lead over Montreal.
