Owen Sound, ON – The Owen Sound Attack are excited to announce the additional of Darren Rumble as the team’s new Assistant Coach. Rumble comes to the Attack with 17 years of coaching experience as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach at American Hockey League (AHL) and Canadian Hockey League (CHL) levels.
“I knew replacing Jordan Hill was not going to be easy and I had a lot of criteria and boxes to check along way on Jordan’s departure” said Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray. “I feel very fortunate to have the ability to bring in a coach with the track record and experience of a Darren Rumble. I believe we have found the type of person and coach we were looking for and would like to welcome him to the Owen Sound community and Attack organization.”
Originally from Barrie, Ontario, Rumble started his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the Springfield Flacons of the AHL (2004-2007), before moving on to the Norfolk Admirals where he was an Assistant Coach for the 2007-2008 season. He was then named the teams Head Coach before the start of the 2008-2009 season a position he held for parts of the next two seasons, amassing a record of 50-61-0-11. After his time in the AHL, Rumble moved back to junior hockey first as an Assistant Coach with the Lewiston MAINEiacs (2010-2011) of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Seattle Thunderbirds (2012-13) of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He then returned to the QMJHL as the Head Coach of the Moncton Wildcats where he made the playoffs in 5 out of 6 season with an overall record of 194-177-0-37. Before the start of the 2020-21 season, after a years hiatus, Rumble joined the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL as an Assistant Coach a position he held up until the end of the 2022-23 season.

I’ve heard great things about the community and am really looking forward to working with the current players and staff this upcoming season which holds so much potential.”
As a player Rumble played his major junior hockey for the Kitchener Rangers where he had 37 goals and 111 assists in three seasons with the blue shirts. A former first round National Hockey League (NHL) Draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, the left shot defencemen played in parts of 16 professional season between the NHL, AHL, International Hockey League (IHL) and Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), finishing his career with 106 goals, 408 assists and 967 penalty minutes in 966 pro games.
Attack fans can get their first interaction with the new Assistant Coach when Rumble joins current Attack coaching staff, Greg Walters (Head Coach) and Sean Teakle (Assistant Coach), when training camp opens on Monday, August 28 at the Bayshore.
