NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs are pleased to announce the commitment of Max Crete to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
“We are thrilled to have Maximus commit to the Niagara IceDogs. He is a dynamic player with excellent skating who can make plays through the middle of the ice at a high rate of speed”, noted Interim GM Wes Consorti.
Crete, a native of Ottawa, ON led his Upper Canada Cyclones U16 AAA team to a birth at the OHL Cup. Marking an impressive eight total points in just four OHL Cup games. In addition, his 66 regular season points (28 goals and 38 assists) led his league, the Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), in scoring. Crete also impressed at Orientation Camp, scoring three of his teams four goals across the two games. The 5’8 and 164 lbs centre was selected in the 2nd round, 30th overall by the IceDogs in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
Adding to this already impressive resume, Crete served as the Captain for his U16 team and was also selected by the Navan Grads in the CCHL draft, joining his older brother, Gabriel Crete. Recently, Crete helped the Grads capture the Bogart Cup as champions of the CCHL, playing as an affiliate player during the playoffs.
“I’m super excited and honoured to be able to sign an agreement with the Niagara IceDogs, in the best development league in the world, it’s truly an honour and it’s just the start. The future of this team is super bright and I can’t wait to be apart of it.” added Max Crete.
OHL Central Scouting describes Max’s game as, “a highly skilled centre that drives the offence for his team”, “a very elusive skater with great edge control that makes him very hard to contain in the offensive zone” and “having elite playmaking skills, making very creative plays with the puck.”
