The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are in action on Wednesday night against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, where Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Tristan Jarry is about to make his fourth consecutive start in the AHL.
After a rough start to the NHL season, including a 6-0 loss to the New York Rangers, Jarry struggled in three appearances with a 5.47 GAA and .836 SV%.
Considering he was mentioned in the offseason as potential trade bait, his performance to begin the 2024-25 season hurt his chances while costing him the starting job at the NHL level.
When Jarry stopped dressing, the Penguins provided no details about his future. However, he responded with great performances and statistics on a conditioning stint once he was sent to the minors.
In three games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the 29-year-old is 3-0-0 with a 1.95 GAA and .937 SV%. Additionally, Jarry has been named a top-three star in two of the three contests he’s played.
Meanwhile, the Penguins are third in the Atlantic Division with a 6-2-0-0 record.
He’ll go for his fourth consecutive win tonight, something he hasn’t achieved in a calendar year. While skating with Pittsburgh last year, Jarry was 4-0-0 from Nov. 4 to Nov. 14, picking up wins over San Jose, Anaheim, Buffalo, and Columbus.
Right now, Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist continue to skate at the NHL level while Jarry works on his game in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Hopefully, Jarry will continue to regain his form in the AHL, which will help Pittsburgh with their goalie concerns or make him a valuable trade asset for reinforcements.
