The former Wild forward will wear a different number for the first time in his NHL career. Jason Zucker wore 16 with the Wild from 2011-20, in 2020-23 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in 2023-24 with the Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators.
He will now wear number 17 for the Buffalo Sabres. 28 players in Sabres history have worn 17 with the team. It was last worn by Tyson Jost, a former Wild forward. Number 16 has been retired by the Sabres for Pat LaFontaine.
Zucker, 32, had 14 goals and 32 points last year for the Arizona Coyotes and the Nashville Predators. He recently signed a one-year contract with the Sabres for the 2024-25 season.
The former Wild forward has scored 20 or more goals six times in his NHL career. Five of his six, 20, or more goal seasons came with the Minnesota Wild.
In his Wild career, Zucker recorded 132 goals, 111 assists, and 243 points in 456 games across nine seasons in Minnesota.
He was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2020 deadline for Calen Addison, a first-round pick (Carson Lambos), and Alex Galchenyuk.
