Kuznetsov, Calgary’s 2020 2nd rounder, played mostly in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers notching up 13 points (5+8) across 63 games.
The 6-foot-4 shutdown defender also appeared in just one NHL game last season, which was his first, where he didn’t register a point.
Despite the NHL experience, he is projected to start the 2024-25 season in the AHL.
Kuznetsov was a QMJHLer for just 25 games in the 2021-22 season with the Saint John Sea Dogs, where he notched 13 points (2+11) in 25 games. That Saint John team would win the Memorial Cup as hosts, making him one of a very few to win both the Memorial Cup and the USHL’s Clark Cup.
