According to Kurt Leavins of Postmedia, Gagner hopes to still play during the 2024-25 season.

Gagner, 35, spent this past season with the Edmonton Oilers, where he had five goals, 10 points, and a minus-2 rating in 28 games. He primarily served as a depth forward for the Oilers but was sent down to the AHL after the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. In 15 games for the Bakersfield Condors, he had three goals and nine points. He did, however, receive a recall at the end of the season and played in Edmonton’s season finale against the Colorado Avalanche.

Teams looking for an experienced depth forward who can provide some offensive production in a bottom-six role could consider signing Gagner to a two-way deal or professional tryout (PTO) contract. Time will tell what happens on that front.

Gagner spent the 2015-16 season with the Flyers, posting eight goals, 16 points, and a plus-4 rating in 53 games. During the 2016 NHL Offseason, he signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, ending his time in Philly.
