The New Jersey Devils held an optional morning skate at Prudential Center Thursday night before their game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Only seven players were on the ice for the Devils, including Kurtis MacDermid, Justin Dowling, Jesper Bratt, Timo Meier, Tomas Tatar, Paul Cotter, and Jake Allen.
During his pregame media availability, head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed Markstrom would get the start against the Canadiens, marking his 11th of the season.
The veteran netminder has a career record of 8-8-3 in 19 games, a goals-against average of 2.17, and a save percentage of .927 against the Canadiens.
Montreal’s captain, Nick Suzuki, will be a player to watch tonight. He has scored three goals on Markstrom over 16 games, the most among all Canadiens.
The Devils netminder is coming off a 3-0 loss to his former club, the Calgary Flames. He was working towards a shutout and did not surrender his first goal until the final minutes of the third period.
