Canadiens recall Joshua Roy From Laval

The Montreal Canadiens were badly beaten by the Vegas Golden Knights Saturday night at the Bell Center, losing 6-2. On top of helping the opponent beat them by multiplying turnovers and bad plays, the young Canadiens struggled to find the back of the net.

This morning, the team announced that Joshua Roy was recalled from its AHL farm team, the Laval Rocket. While Roy was pencilled in the NHL roster by many before the start of training camp, he failed to impress and was cut from camp while Oliver Kapanen and Emil Heineman impressed and made the team.

Since being cut, Roy has played 17 games with the Rocket putting up eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. His scoring touch could certainly be helpful for the Canadiens right now. Since breaking up the Juraj Slafkovsy-Nick Suzuki-Cole Caufield line, visibly in the hope of kickstarting Kirby Dach, the Montreal attack has dried up.

It will be interesting to see how Roy will fit in Martin St-Louis’ lineup and who will have to sit to make room for the youngster.

Meanwhile, the Canadiens has requested an extension of Rafael Harvey-Pinard’s conditioning stint in the AHL and he will be travelling with the Rocket today.
