Owen Sound, Ont. – Back on November 5th, the Owen Sound Attack teamed up with the local branch of the Canadian Cancer Society for their annual Hockey Fights Cancer game night. This year saw the Attack welcome division rival London Knights to the Bayshore for the game, and though the action on the ice did not go the right way, fans were, as always, very generous in their support. As they event is geared toward raising both funds and awareness to help people living with cancer, the Attack and the HFC Committee are proud to announce that our grand total raised for the 22/23 season is $48,795.75!
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated partners, sponsors and volunteers, all which came together to help make this fundraising event a reality,” said Alisson Taylor-Misener of the Canadian Cancer Society and head of the HFC Committee. “With the support of the local businesses and community involvement this event has become a staple in the Owen Sound community and continues to grow year over year.”
As is tradition, the Attack dawned specialty jersey’s for the game, which were then placed on auction for fans to have a chance to own the specially designed jersey. Other traditional event that helped raise donations, was the bucket pass and always fun Chuck-A-Puck, while a silent auction ran throughout the game.
” I am very grateful to the Owen Sound Attack for their leadership role, their kindness and support- Thank you! Not only are the Owen Sound Attack fantastic partners for CCS, the fans and local community really help make this event an engaging and fun atmosphere,” Taylor-Misener offered. ” I just want to say thank you to everyone for the ongoing generosity. It is because of you that we are able to provide our vital support services to people living with cancer.”
