Overage North Bay Battalion graduate Cameron Lamour will play close to home in 2021-22, committing to the Laurentian Voyageurs menâs hockey program.
A native of Naughton, Ont., Lamour will be in nearby Sudbury after spending the 2019-20 season with the North Bay Battalion where he played to a 3-8-3-0 mark. He also saw nine games of duty with the NOJHLâs Rayside-Balfour Canadians.
âThe biggest factor is that itâs at home,â Lamour told the Sudbury Starâs Ben Leeson. âI get to do my education while furthering my hockey career, as well as living at home, which is something I havenât been able to do in nearly five years.â
Originally a third round pick of the Saginaw Spirit in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, Lamour spent parts of four OHL seasons between Saginaw, Sarnia and North Bay, playing to an overall mark of 15-32-5-1 with a 4.75 goals-against average in 67 regular season games.
Lamour hopes to follow in the footsteps of his father Willie, a police officer. Heâll be studying criminology at Laurentian while looking to fill the skates of past locally-drawn Laurentian netminders in fellow OHL grads Alain Valiquette, Joel Vienneau and Mackenzie Savard.
