AUSTIN, TEXAS — For just the fourth time in program history, and first since 2019, a women’s ice hockey player has earned Academic All-American honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced on Wednesday afternoon. Eliza Beaudin ’22 was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® Division III Women’s At-Large Second Team, after earning First Team All-District honors last month.

Beaudin joins Katie Granato ’19, Ari Smith ’18, and Sarah Hughson ’18 as the individuals to receive the prestigious award in the women’s ice hockey storied history. Additionally, Beaudin is just the fifth student-athlete at Elmira College to receive the award since 2000, as Leah Malliris ’01 of the Women’s Volleyball team earned the award.

A four-year forward on the nationally-ranked women’s ice hockey team, Beaudin recently graduated summa cum laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.94 in psychology. The Lewiston, Maine native and two-year captain was a part of three UCHC Tournament Championships (2019, 2020, 2021), while also helping Elmira to its first NEHC Regular Season and Tournament Championships in earlier March. Individually, Beaudin ranks 7th in program history in goals (58) and finished with 119 total points. Her four short-handed goals rank second in program history behind Aston Hogan ’15.

Academically, Beaudin earned Dean’s List honors in each of her semesters at Elmira, while earning numerous UCHC, Empire 8, ACHA, and NEHC academic honors. The New England Hockey Conference Player of the Year in 2022 also served as the Vice President of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) at Elmira College – the National Leadership Honor’s Society, the President of PSI CHI – Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, as well as the Treasurer of the Active Minds Club along with Phi Eta Sigma.

Among the 46 student-athletes named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® Women’s At-Large Team for Division III, Beaudin was the only NEHC Women’s Hockey player, and Empire 8 School recipient to receive the honor.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her Sports Information Director.
