Earlier this month, the Chicago Blackhawks welcomed the Detroit Red Wings to United Center for their first and only visit of the year. That means that Patrick Kane made his second-ever return to Chicago as a member of a road team.
On Tuesday, a clip from that game started going viral online. Connor Bedard took a tripping minor at 15:24 of the first period. The person he tripped? Patrick Kane.
Bedard was not happy with Kane or the call following this play. He used some “not safe for work” language when yelling out his frustrations at both Kane and the referees. The chirps from Bedard were certainly flying.
Apparently, Bedard thinks that Kane went down a little bit easy. He wanted to make sure that the referee was aware of his opinion on his way to the box.
Bedard doesn’t care what Kane’s status is in the league or Chicago. He’s trying to build his legacy for himself and the next wave of Blackhawks players.
Kane is a Blackhawks legend and Bedard can only hope to be known as one in the future as well. Seeing them face in the present day is truly a Chicago hockey treat.
Bedard and Kane have a lot in common when it comes to their teenage offensive totals so the Blackhawks are hoping that the trajectory for Bedard stays on par with the three-time Stanley Cup champion, Conn Smythe Trophy winner, Art Ross winner, and Hart Trophy recipient.
These two teams will meet again one more time this year on January 10th. This one will take place in Detroit at Little Caesar’s Arena.
