The St. Louis Blues have signed goaltender Thomas Greiss to a one-year deal with a cap hit of $1.25-million AAV.
Greiss, 36, spent the past two seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, posting a 10-15-1 record in 31 games last year. He has an all-time career record of 155-120-37 in 347 games with San Jose, Pittsburgh, the New York Islanders and Detroit.
Greiss has made a good career for himself as someone capable of playing 30-plus games a year, mainly as a 1B. His last season in Detroit, though, wasn’t great, and at 36, he’ll be relegated to backup duty moving forward.
Ironically, Greiss replaces Ville Husso in St. Louis, who replaced Greiss via a trade to Detroit last week.
