Brian Burke – “They’ve had too much money tied up in four forwards. They still do.”:Leafs Morning Take

With all the downtime for the Maple Leafs recently, there’s been no shortage of takes over the past few weeks regarding the William Nylander situation.

Well, Brian Burke has now officially entered the conversation. Without question, the always outspoken former Leafs GM was the feature presentation on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take —but more on that in a bit.

First and foremost, presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on some paper transactions the Leafs made. By all accounts, it sounds like everything could be paving the way for Conor Timmins’ debut as soon as this weekend. Obviously, there’s a lot of moving parts – including the John Klingberg one – but it seems like Timmins is close. Furthermore, I’m excited to see what he can bring to the table. He looked fantastic in training camp.

After that, we took our weekly look at the Atlantic Division standings. Full credit to Boston, Florida, and Tampa for their strong play to start the season. On top of that, it sounds like Andrei Vasilevskiy could make his season debut – coming off back surgery – next week for the Bolts. And that’s scary, even though Toronto’s had the Big Cat’s number in recent outings —including last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Now to tee up Burke. In the interview, brought to you by Sober Carpenter, we mainly touched on William Nylander and that whole saga. Additionally, we touched on Toronto’s start, the new additions – namely Ryan Reaves – and the prospects of Brad Treliving attempting to make a trade with his former team. Burkie’s always a fun chat.

Anthony Stewart will be filling in for Jay Rosehill on the Thursday edition. Join us at 11 AM ET as we’ll begin to tee up Toronto’s back-to-back this week. Also, former Leaf and two-time Cup winner with Chicago, Dave Bolland, will drop by to take a trip down memory lane.
