Bruce Boudreau & Gord Stellick weigh in on John Tavares’ lifeless OT backcheck: Leafs Morning Take

by

As expected, John Tavares and his lacklustre backcheck has been the talk of the town in Toronto over the past 48 hours.

As per usual, it’s being blown out of proportion. It’s classic Toronto if you ask me. At any rate, I had special guest co-host Bruce Boudreau weigh in on the conversation to kick off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t make much of the situation. As he eloquently put it, “people in Toronto get pissed off about everything.”

Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on Saturday night’s tilt with Boston. Believeably, the Leafs have gone to extra time in 11 of their 22 games so far this season. That’s insane. Furthermore, they’ve registered just five regulation wins, which is utterly ridiculous. That said, I thought they played well enough to win against the B’s. That’s the way she goes sometimes.

Meantime, brought to you by SOBER CARPENTER, former Leafs GM Gord Stellick, who currently works for SiriusXM NHL Network Radio & Sportsnet, dropped by for a chat. We did a little roundtable. Bruce and Gord are really good friends, so I just sit back and let them do their thing. Those two can talk for days.

After that, thanks to the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, Bruce and I previewed Toronto’s quiet week. They play in Ottawa on Thursday before returning home to host Ryan O’Reilly, Luke Schenn, and the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.

After a few days off, Jay Rosehill will be back in the mix for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. I’ll get his thoughts on the weekend, plus we’ll continue to look ahead at what’s next for the Leafs. They’ve had a weird schedule so far. It’s going to get very busy very quickly.
