The Boston Bruins became the first NHL team in the 2022-23 season to reach 30 wins when they defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night.
David Pastrnak and Trent Frederic each scored twice, and Brad Marchand also found the back of the net as Boston opened its three-game California road trip in impressive fashion.
The victory also put the Bruins in the record books.

They tied the 1945-46 Montreal Canadiens as the second-fastest team to win 30 games in a regular season. The B’s needed just 38 games to hit that mark.

The Bruins’ team record for wins in a season is 57, set by the Bobby Orr-led 1970-71 squad that went 57-14-7 and ultimately lost to the Montreal Canadiens in Game 7 of the quarterfinals.
Boston is currently on pace for a little more than 60 wins. The league record for most wins in a regular season is 62, shared by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning. Neither of those teams won the Stanley Cup that season.
