The Red Wings will be playing a pair of games on Monday, making up a postponed match at home against Pittsburgh (because of the Penguins not being able to get to Detroit due to mechanical issues with their plane) and the game in Buffalo.

The Sabres are coming off of a 6-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night, and sometime this week before the beginning of the regular season will cut down their roster, sending most of the roster playing tonight down to the AHL Rochester Americans.
Buffalo will open the 2024-25 regular season in Prague in the NHL Global Series, with a pair of games against New Jersey on Friday and Saturday. Rochester will play one exhibition game on Sunday in Syracuse and will not open their regular season schedule until a week from Friday (October 11) at home against Belleville.
