With training camp just a few days away, the Vancouver Canucks have signed goaltender Dylan Ferguson to a PTO. The 25-year-old is from Lantzville, BC and played his junior career in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers. Initially drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Ferguson spent last season in the KHL with Dinamo Minsk, finishing the season with a 9-9-0 record while posting a save percentage of .904.

Before making the move to the KHL, Ferguson spent most of his career bouncing between the AHL and ECHL. He won the Kelly Cup with the Fort Wayne Komets in 2021 and has three games of NHL experience under his belt. Listed at 6’2″, 194 pounds, Ferguson also ranks ninth in all-time wins with Kamloops, posting 61 wins during his four WHL seasons.

Bringing in Ferguson could be a sign that Thatcher Demko is not 100% ready for Training Camp. The Canucks starting goaltender has not played since Game 1 of Vancouver’s first-round series against the Nashville Predators and could miss both Training Camp and the preseason with a lower-body injury. Full rosters for Training Camp are expected to be released in the coming days, with more than five goaltenders, including Ferguson, projected to be in attendance.

The Canucks 2024 Training Camp will kick off on Thursday from Penticton. This year’s Training Camp will feature three days of on-ice practice and finish up with a scrimmage on Sunday, September 22. Tickets for the event can be purchased here, with all practices and games set to take place at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
