The Sharks’ No. 1 overall draft pick recorded his first NHL goal in amazing fashion at 07:01 of the first period in the San Jose’s Opening Night tilt with the St. Louis Blues at SAP Center on Thursday, delivering a spinning backhand past goalie Joel Hoffer that you’d have to see to believe.
Celebrini’s remarkable goal was assisted by William Eklund and Jake Walman
After recording 64 points for Boston University last season, the 18-year-old wasted no time getting in the NHL scoresheet.
An excited crowd rushed to their feet to celebrate the monumentous occassion, with a roar engulfing SAP Center that hasn’t been heard in years.
Celebrini’s unbelievable goal ushers in a new generation of Sharks hockey, with the highly touted center at the forefront of San jose’s ambitious rebuild.
