Do Preds have good chance to return to Stanley Cup Playoffs?

by admin

The Nashville Predators begin the Andrew Brunette and Barry Trotz eras on Tuesday with the 2023-24 NHL regular season opener at the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Brunette begins as the Predators coach, replacing John Hynes after four seasons. Trotz is in his first season as the Predators general manager after David Poile spent the team’s first 24 years as GM.

Nashville missed the postseason last year for the first time since 2014, though some of the team’s younger players stepped up down the stretch after the team traded several veterans at the trade deadline. Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen are elsewhere, and this season’s team will look a good bit different compared to years’ past.

Here’s a look at the Predators’ preseason betting odds and more ahead of Tuesday’s opener. All odds via BetMGM:

What is the Nashville Predators’ over/under points total for the 2023-24 NHL season?

BetMGM lists the Predators’ point total over/under at 87.5, with both the over and under at -115. The 87.5 point total is the 11th-highest point total mark in the West.

Any interesting Predators-related prop bets or award bets?

Outside of the 90 or more regular season points prop mentioned earlier, here are some other BetMGM props related to the Predators:

  • Juuse Saros is +600 to win the Vezina Trophy, which are the second-best odds behind Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin.

  • Roman Josi has the ninth-best odds to win the Norris Trophy, at +1800. Avalanche star defenseman Cale Makar is the favorite at +225.

  • Andrew Brunette is +3000 to win the Jack Adams Award for the top coach in the NHL. That puts him in the bottom 10 in the odds.

  • Roman Josi is +190 to score 20 or more goals. That stands out among other Predators player season props because Josi had 23 goals in 2021-22, then had 18 goals in 67 games in 2022-23. With a little injury luck, Josi could be in range to score 20 or more.

  • Another player prop: Juuse Saros’ goalie win total over/under is 28.5 at -115. He has 38 and 33 wins over the last two seasons respectively.
