Sheffield Steelers were up against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday night with some momentum after their Wednesday night thrashing of Coventry Blaze.  Would Nottingham have something to take the wind from their sails?  Perhaps not…

Doubles from Tanner Eberle and Sondre Olden helped Sheffield Steelers crush Nottingham Panthers in their last Elite Series outing.
If Wednesday’s dominate 7-2 win over Coventry Blaze was a message to the other teams, this one was made with a megaphone and a real point to it.
Aaron Fox’s side are finding their stride and the simple truth is Panthers had no real answer as Steelers grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and didn’t let go.
Three goals had already beaten Nottingham goalie Ben Bowns inside the first three minutes as Eberle, Olden and Jason Hewitt had already put them ahead.
Further markers from Olden again and Jeremy Beaudry effectively killed the game off inside the first period.
Bowns was replaced by Jackson Whistle in the Nottingham net for the middle frame as they tried to find a way back into the game.
Austin Cangelosi got one back, but Josh Waller got his first goal for Steelers not long after. Panthers struck again through Kevin Domingue, however Liam Kirk was on hand to get Sheffield’s seventh and keep the five-goal gap.
A second from Cangelosi with seven minutes to go was as much as Tim Wallace’s side could muster, with Eberle book ending the scoring for the ‘home’ team with his second to round off a good night for them.
