Elmira College Ice Hockey Programs To Host NEHC Quarterfinals On Saturday

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women’s and men’s ice hockey programs are preparing to host two New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) quarterfinal round contests on Saturday, February 19 at the Murray Athletic Center at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Admission for fans will be FREE for both contests with donations being accepted to offset the costs associated with the 2022 postseason for both programs.
 
JUST THE BASICS:
WHAT: NEHC Postseason Tournament – Quarterfinal Round
WHEN: Saturday, February 19 – 3:00 p.m. (women’s game) 7:00 p.m. (men’s game)
LOCATION: Murray Athletic Center (170 Huck Finn Rd, Horseheads, NY 14845)
ADMISSION: Fans will be admitted FREE into the MAC Ice Arena for both games on Saturday
COVID-19 POLICY: It is recommended that fully vaccinated fans wear a mask while inside, but not required
TEAM RECORDS: No. 3 Elmira Women’s Ice Hockey (21-2-1, 17-0-0 NEHC), No. 6 Elmira Men’s Ice Hockey (17-5-2, 11-4-2 NEHC)
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The NEHC season culminates with an eight-team championship that spans three weekends. For the 2022 postseason only, two first-round games will be held due to COVID-19 rescheduling pauses.

All games are held at campus sites of the higher seeds. The winning institution earns the conference’s automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament.

The Elmira College women’s program secured the No. 1 seed and home-ice advantage throughout the NEHC Tournament after putting together an undefeated 17-0 conference record during the regular season.

EC will learn its opponent following first-round games that will be held on Wednesday evening. The Purple & Gold will face the lowest remaining seed on Saturday afternoon at the MAC beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Semifinal round games are scheduled for February 26 and the NEHC Championship game for March 5. The NCAA DIII Women’s Ice Hockey Selection Show is scheduled to be aired on Sunday evening (March 6).

The Elmira College men’s program locked up the No. 2 seed and home-ice advantage through the semifinals after going 4-0-1 over the final two weeks of the regular season. EC finished with an 11-4-2 record in conference play this season.

EC will learn its opponent following first-round games that will be held on Wednesday night. The Purple & Gold will face the highest remaining seed on Saturday night at the MAC beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Semifinal round games are scheduled for February 26 and the NEHC Championship game for March 5. The NCAA DIII Men’s Ice Hockey Selection Show is scheduled to be aired on Monday, March 7 at a time to be determined later.

UP NEXT:
The Purple & Gold would each host NEHC Semifinal contests following victories on Saturday at the MAC. Both contests would be held at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26.
