Flyers’ 6-6 prospect Ratcliffe latest RFA to sign new deal originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
General manager Chuck Fletcher checked another restricted free agent off of his list Tuesday.
The Flyers re-signed 6-foot-6 winger Isaac Ratcliffe to a one-year, two-way, $813,750 contract.
The 2017 second-round draft pick made a solid first impression at the NHL level during a 10-game audition last season. He had a goal, three assists, a minus-1 mark, 14 shots, 16 hits and eight blocked shots in 10:45 minutes per game. He played mostly on the fourth line and saw one game on the first line.
In 59 games with AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley, Ratcliffe recorded 11 goals and 17 assists.
Under new Flyers head coach John Tortorella, Ratcliffe will compete for a roster spot in September training camp. With his size and secondary scoring potential, the 23-year-old should push for minutes in the Flyers’ bottom six throughout the 2022-23 season.
“Up front, we have a lot of young players that we have to see if they can play,” Fletcher said last Wednesday.
The Flyers re-signed restricted free agent Morgan Frost last Friday. Owen Tippett, Zack MacEwen and Wade Allison are among the other RFAs in line for new deals before the start of the season. MacEwen filed for arbitration Sunday.
