Frank Seravalli isn’t sure that Craig Berube will be on the market long enough to get to Toronto: Leafs Morning Take

Just like that, another locker cleanout day following a disappointing first round exit in Toronto is in the books, and once again, it didn’t produce much.

It felt scripted, it felt rehearsed, which has become par for the course. Accountability is still missing in this market.

We kicked off the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the Travis Green news. In case you missed it, the former Leaf, who guested on Leafs Morning Take last season, was named the new head coach of the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. Over the next few days, the Leafs could be looking for a new coach as well.

Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we gave our thoughts on news from Monday that Keith Pelley, Brendan Shanahan, and Brad Treliving will be addressing the media on Friday. What does that mean for Shanny? How much should we read into this? Hopefully, we’ll have a bit more clarity on everything later this week.

Meantime, courtesy Wendy’s, we broke down the major news items of locker-room clean-out day. Firstly, we addressed Mitch Marner’s poorly worded comments about being gods in Toronto. It was a poor choice of words. Truthfully, we took bigger issue with other things he said. Also, Rosey questioned Auston Matthews for not disclosing more about what’s been ailing him. The whole situation is so bizarre, and sadly, it doesn’t feel like we’re going to get a resolution/clarity on that front. Additionally, we talked about the emotional Sheldon Keefe presser. For all intents and purposes, he was probably the only one who took accountability for the loss.

After that, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, we welcomed in NHL Insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff to dissect the potential fallout of all this. Suffice it to say, it should be a mighty fascinating rest of the week in Toronto as we wait to hear from the head honchos. We touched on everything from Mitch Marner’s future to Joel Quenneville, and if he’ll get another opportunity in the NHL anytime soon.

Coming up on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take, we’ll continue to unpack everything from the last couple days. Talk at 11 AM ET!
