Jakob Chychrun should be on Toronto’s radar: Leafs Morning Take

by

For the second time in a week, the Leafs and Rangers will square off, but this time around, it will take place at Scotiabank Arena.

If you’re wondering which Toronto team will show up, you’re not alone!

We kicked off the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the holiday season and what it’s like for the prototypical NHL player. Believe it or not, at least according to Jay Rosehill, it’s not as stressful as you may think.

At any rate, presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on the news out of the nation’s capital on Monday: D.J. Smith was fired as head coach of the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, 71-year-old Jacques Martin, who coached the Sens in the Pat Quinn era, will take over on an interim basis. All in all, we got into a really fascinating conversation. Rosey talked about his experience in Toronto when Ron Wilson was fired and Randy Carlyle was hired. Hint: A lot of players were not a big of the move. Also, somehow, the conversation morphed into what Ottawa’s plans leading up to the deadline could be. Jakob Chychrun would look wonderful in Toronto —that’s for sure.

After that, courtesy the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed Leafs and Rangers. It goes without saying but it would be nice to see the Leafs go on an extended run here. They’ve been consistently inconsistent through 28 contests. And that needs to change. By the way, Toronto will be honouring John Tavares for his 1000th point, so maybe the team receives a boost from that, too.

Lastly, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, we discussed Toronto’s blueline and how slowly but surely, they’re getting back to full health. Once again, it appears that the Leafs have weathered the storm with respect to injuries on the back-end. It makes no sense.

Join us on Wednesday at 11 AM ET for a full recap of tonight’s game. Also, Maple Leafs fan and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Adam Copeland drops by for the first time this season.
