Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds announced today that 2023 second-round pick Jimmy Lombardi has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement with the club.

“It feels amazing (signing with Flint) and I’m very excited,” Lombardi said. “I’m looking forward to the experience of playing in the OHL and being able to get better every day.”

“We’re happy to bring Jimmy into the Firebirds family,” Head Coach and General Manager Ted Dent said. “He’s a dynamic forward with a lot of skill and energy and we look forward to working with him during his junior career.”

Lombardi was selected by the Firebirds 29th overall in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. With the U16 Don Mills Flyers this past season, he scored 13 G and 18 A in 36 GP this season with the Flyers. The 5-foot-11, 149-pound center comes from Toronto, Ont., and his 31 points were tied for 22nd in the GTHL.

“My experience with Flint has been great,” Lombardi added. “It looks like a great place to play and I can’t wait to get started. The Firebirds are getting a two-way, 200-foot forward that can defend and create scoring chances.”

The 5-foot-11, 150-pound center plans on wearing number-10 in Flint.

Scouting Report from Head Scout Mike Oliverio: “As a staff, we really like the fact that Jimmy plays the game at a high pace and skill level. He is a difference-maker in any type of game and competes in all three zones. He takes time and space away from the opposition quickly and he tends to make the players around him better.
