MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday, with Kerfalla Toure ’26 earning conference Rookie of the Week honors after a four-point weekend which resulted in a pair of conference wins for the Soaring Eagles.
A dual-sport athlete from Montreal, Quebec, Toure helped Elmira score the game-winner in the 6th minute of play in the second period, assisting Larry Niland ’23 for the second goal of the contest to push EC ahead 2-0. After Niland found Toure in front of the net, Toure’s shot was saved by Thoroughbred goaltender Blaine Moore before Niland picked up the loose puck and found the back of the net.
Saturday, Toure would record three points in Elmira’s 8-0 win over Castleton and increase his points total to ten on the season (team-leading) after a goal and two assists. Toure’s goal would put the Soaring Eagles ahead 3-0 in the second period, unassisted, before assisting on two goals in the third period off the sticks of Daniel Dimon ’24 and Shawn Kennedy ’24.
The Soaring Eagles will take a break before returning to the ice on December 30 against Salve Regina at First Arena as part of the Hockey Helpers Shootout games. EC will then take on Colby College just a day later, which will also be played at First Arena in downtown Elmira.
